Michael Shaara, who wrote the greatest Civil War book of our time, died shortly after writing The Killer Angels. His son Jeff, though estranged from his father and fortunately for everyone else, decided to pick up where he left off. He follows the same style--narrative nonfiction--in that the people, places and stories are all true, but the added dialogue makes it difficult for the genre-police to categorize. No matter the genre, we love whenever Shaara has a new book out. We've read 'em all!

Gods and Generals is apart of a trilogy about the Civil War. It serves as the prequel to Killer Angels and takes place from 1858-1863.
