The first time I read this book I couldn't get past the religious aspects having grown up in a crazy religion. I tried it again* and loved it. Strong female characters.

*Julie here. I would like to point out that she tried it again per my realization that she has poison(wood)ed me towards this book too and I have not read it, assuming it was bad because of her former explanation. See also: Helen Hunt. Does anyone else experience Mother-bias?
